The exciting Sonoma Wine Country Games kicks off June 3 and runs through June 19, featuring 17 competitions for athletes 50+. Sports include archery, badminton, basketball, bocce, bowling, cycling, golf, handball, lawn bowling, petanque, pickleball, soccer, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.
Registration for all individual sports closes one week before the event, with the exception of cycling, where participants can register the same day. Most team sports have rosters due by May 27. Everyone of all ages is invited to join Council on Aging for a non-competitive walk-run called “Loop Around the Lake,” Friday, June 10, 6 to 8 pm. The event starts and ends in Howarth Park in Santa Rosa and loops around Spring Lake. Registration for the event is $10 and benefits Council on Aging. Onsite registration for Loop Around the Lake opens at 5 pm.
